About Amharic Kids
Amharic Kids was born out of our families' adoption journey. We adopted our
oldest daughter as a baby and at that time all we cared about was making sure
she ate and grew. In time, we began to look for Ethiopian cultural and language
outlets knowing how crucial it would be for our daughters' future self-esteem.
In the process our whole family enjoyed the relationships we built, language we
have learned and cultural tidbits we have been able to incorporate into our home
life.
WWe created Amharic Kids to meet the need of Ethiopian adopted families for
easily accessible books and toys related to Ethiopia. It all started with
publishing the book “Our First Amharic Words” and our now famous Amharic Color
and Number Bean Bag sets. We have since sourced products about Ethiopia from all
over the world, and published more products including the award winning “Ethiopian Voices: Tsion’s Life.” We have many more
projects up our sleeves!
Like all adoptive families, we have always been concerned about giving back to
Ethiopia. Amharic Kids gives back by sponsoring individual Ethiopian children,
supporting Ethiopian food aid programs, sourcing products that directly benefit
families and providing you fundraising opportunities to support your favorite
Ethiopian cause or personal adoption. This is the most rewarding part of Amharic
Kids.
